ColoWrap Application & Adjustment

Application FAQs

What if my patient cannot lift their hips?
If your patient cannot lift their hips, use a back and forth motion to slide the ColoWrap down and into the correct position. This same technique can be used to adjust ColoWrap horizontal alignment so that the printed line is visible outside the patient's left hip.
Can I apply ColoWrap once the procedure has already started?

Yes, while pre-procedure application is ideal, ColoWrap can be applied during the procedure. Use the following protocol:

  • Identify and agree upon decision point for mid-case application
  • Physician pauses scope advancement efforts
  • Two staff members
  • If patient is left side lying-Accordion fold ColoWrap to pass under patient
  • Ensure positioning is correct at iliac crests and left hip
  • Secure as you would pre-procedure
What are ColoWrap contraindications?

ColoWrap can be used for all colonoscopy patients except those contraindicated with:

  • Gastroparesis
  • Pregnancy
  • Colostomy/Ileostomy
  • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm
  • Small Bowel Obstruction
  • Anatomic abnormalities precluding device placement (insulin pump, etc)
Where can I find the ColoWrap Sizing Chart?

A link to download the ColoWrap Sizing Chart is below. If you would like printed and laminated copies to post in your procedure rooms, please reach out to your ColoWrap representative!

Can I leave the ColoWrap on through the whole procedure? Including withdrawal?
Yes. The ColoWrap is safe to leave on for the entire procedure and removal is at discretion of the physician. Many physicians may loosen secondary straps (if applied) but leave primary band intact for withdrawal to provide added stability and visibility.
